This year there is no doubt that the artist who had the most influence in pop music and fashion was Lady Gaga. With her wild exotic costumes and super talent many consider her to be the biggest pop star for the new decade to come. Others see her as a crack pot that will burn brightly and fade away quickly.
The truth is that Lady Gaga has entered the stage during a perfect storm of sorts. With all the artist known for their flair such as Madonna, Elton John, Michael Jackson, Prince, etc either passed their prime for young music lovers or have passed away, the need for a new unique artist has grown. This fact might just be the reason why Lady Gaga popularity has grown so quickly. It is the lack of supply that has fed the demand for her. With most artist these days being cookie cutouts fabricated by the industry, there is no wonder why Lady Gaga has so many devoted fans.
Many though think that Gaga herself is just a creation of the music industry pr brains. Gaga, to some is considered to be a false princess of fashion and pop. With the king now dead, the thought is that the music industry and media are looking for a new circus side show. Lady Gaga has felt very comfortable it seems to be in the spotlight and does not mind taking on a bit of controversy. Like her idol, Michael Jackson, the accusations and strange stories about Lady Gaga have splashed the tabloid presses. The jacko like stories began surfacing around the summer when a strange video and comments came out over Lady Gaga's true gender and the claim that she was a hermaphrodite. Wild stories such as these are exactly what kept the king of pop in the spotlight and a major attraction for the press and money for many years after his musical career had come to a stop. With Gaga getting that kind of press it is for certain that she will stay in our minds for a long time to come, well as long as the stories keep coming out.
Through all the controversy though Gaga has remained true to her identity as a gigantic talent. Her music has filled the charts and her musical abilities cannot be ignored. She plays the piano like Chopin and writes her own music. Lady Gaga has also taken the fashion industry by storm Her unique style has filled fashion magazines and blogs alike. She really brings over the top couture to the strange.
There is no doubt that Lady Gaga was the biggest artist of 2009 and will continue to be in to 2010. Love her or hate her she is a force to be reckoned with.
